The development of road infrastructure and the increasing level of motorization require traffic control systems covering a greater number of vehicles than the measuring and control equipment currently in use. Weight preselection systems are used to detect vehicles exceeding the permissible axle loads and the permissible total weight. A shortcoming that does not allow to fully use the possibilities of pre-selection systems is the lack of pre-selection scales legalisation. The article presents the construction of a preselection terminal, which includes, among others, dynamic scales, induction loops, video cameras recording the silhouette of the weighed vehicle, cameras to identify the vehicle through the recognition of license plates, variable content plates and cabinets with control systems.

In Poland, concrete roads have been built since the 1920s in different periods with different intensity and effectiveness. Many of them were rebuilt into asphalt roads. Only in the national road construction programme for 2014–2023 did the construction of large-scale concrete pavement roads, mainly on expressways, begin. It is expected that by the end of 2019 there will be 750 km of concrete roads in Poland. Concrete pavements are more difficult to construct, but their advantage is their durability, which reaches even more than 50 years and they can function without major repairs even 15–20 years and more.

Contemporary pedestrian-road routes are becoming an increasingly important element of cities. They are not only an area used to move from place to place but above all they are often an underestimated reservoir of vegetation, which has an invaluable impact on the environment of cities and the well-being of their inhabitants. The use of walking and cycling paths is connected with everyday life, so they should meet the needs and expectations of modern users. The vegetation of these areas is one of their most important components, having a large impact on the overall functioning of the road system.

Canada’s history of covered wooden bridges is commemorated with a series of five postage stamps, and lets us learn about the appearance and design of these age-old constructions. It is also amazing the amount of information you can fit, as the proverb goes, on a postage stamp.
