Andrzej Jarominiak: Risks of failures of post-tensioned bridges caused by defective grout. “Drogownictwo”, vol. LXXIV, No. 9, 2019, pp. 243–249

The article discusses factors that cause the cement grout used to protect strands stressing concrete bridges against corrosion become its root cause. It presents non-destructive methods of prestressing tendons condition assessment, measures to prevent grout defects and informs about problems with grout repairs.

Andrzej Pożarycki: Testing the anti-skid properties of pavements using the continuous measurements devices. “Drogownictwo”, vol. LXXIV, No. 9, 2019, pp. 250–257

The article describes a relatively new model of a mechanical device built in Poland to determine the anti-slip properties of pavement surfaces. Despite the fact that the device was created to test airport pavements, the approach to shaping the mechanical system that causes the vertical force of the measuring wheel on the surface of the pavement predisposes this solution also to use it to test the surface of the pavement. To present the wide spectrum of the device’s response to various conditions of slip on roads, the analysis was supported by both a set of pavement test results, on which slip conditions were artificially enforced, as well as in-situ test results. Next, statistical aspects of the obtained values ​​measured in variable conditions characteristic for changes of anti-skid resistance properties registered on pavements during the year are presented.

Tadeusz Suwara: Construction of bridge over Vistula River in Warsaw along S2 expressway. “Drogownictwo”, vol. LXXIV, No. 9, 2019, pp. 258–261

Bridge over Vistula River in Warsaw is being constructed along S2 expressway on the section of southern Warsaw by-pass. Bridge consists of two structures, each with four lanes, sidewalk and bicycle path. Three methods were used in the construction of the bridge: the method of longitudinal lunching on the western part, the cantilever on the main part and the MSS (movable scaffolding system) on the eastern part.

After joining the European Union, Poland became partner in many programmes which aim is to strengthen economic and social cohesion of the euro region. INTERREG is the cooperation programme within the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), located in the German-Polish border region. Western Pomerania Voivodship has been accomplishing infrastructure investments supported through the INTERREG program since 2000 until now.

Rafał Adamski, Dominik Pawłowski: Testing of accelerations of motor vehicles. “Drogownictwo”, vol. LXXIV, No. 9, 2019, pp. 268–270

Each car travelling on the road has strictly defined parameters of acceleration, maximum speed, power and torque. In automotive literature, vehicle flexibility is often tested within a selected speed range in a given gear ratio. Tests of the actual acceleration of a car using different speeds are not performed. The key to determining how a given vehicle will accelerate is its power and torque vs. engine revolutions diagram. Our different cars with different engines were tested to compare their acceleration according to the use of 70, 85 and 100% of their maximum engine power speed. The vehicles were tested on a 500-metre-long road section at speeds ranging from 30 km/h to 120–130 km/h.

Marek Skowron: History of wooden paving in Warsaw. “Drogownictwo”, vol. LXXIV, No. 9, 2019, pp. 271,272,III p. cvr

The article presents the history of the use of wooden paving in Warsaw in nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The first attempts at wooden elements were described, as well as their wider use since the end of the 19th century. The reasons for not using it later are also given.
